Brigantine is a great place to visit. Brigantine is an island that is just across from Atlantic City in New Jersey. With a population of less than 9500, Brigantine is a welcoming community to visit. Brigantine beach is a beautiful beach with clean soft sand and it is rarely crowded. My family has been vacationing in this location for the last 15 years. It is a beautiful quaint city (more like a town) that is 6.39 square miles in area.
We love either sitting or walking on the beach. We have fun collecting seashells, rocks, and watching all the different types of birds. Quite a few times, including our last trip in September, we have been able to watch dolphins swimming and jumping pretty close to the shore. Just beautiful!!
Once we get to Brigantine, over a 5 hour ride for us, we usually park the car. We stay at the Brigantine Beach Club and the beach is only a short walk away. If we need anything, we walk to the grocery store, Acme, or to CVS, RiteAid, WaWa, or 7-Eleven. We usually make our own meals but there are many options available to purchase food, including chinese, pizza, and bagels. Many people bring their bikes and that is how they get around the island. For ice cream, there is Aunt B’s and for seafood there is Hooper’s or Brigantine Seafood. Many food options! Every year we usually visit Mark (the owner), at the Brigantine Gift Shop. He has many items that are great souvenirs of Brigantine.
We love watching the sun rise and set at the beach. Absolutely beautiful! It is so peaceful to watch the beach any time of the day. This beach is New Jersey’s best kept secret. Many people like to fish on Brigantine Beach. Also, there is an option to drive your vehicle on a section of the beach! Swimming in the ocean is nice and lifeguards are on duty 10am to 5:30pm during the summer. The beach attracts surfers also (allowed on certain sections of the beach), which are fun to watch. Even the dunes are beautiful and the beach is a great place for kite flying. The beach is very clean and the beach is combed by tractors at least once or twice a day. There are no noticeable remains of Hurricane Sandy on the beach. Beach passes are necessary from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The Beach patrol does check badges!
In Brigantine, there is a dog park, an outdoor roller blading rink, miniature golf, and tennis courts. If you would like to attend concerts or shows, Atlantic City is a 2 minute drive away. With all the casino options, there are an amazing number of shows to pick from. Also, gambling in the casinos is always a fun option. The boardwalk in Atlantic City is fun to walk and there are many stores and restaurants to visit.
Brigantine’s motto is ‘An island you will love for life!’ My family and I believe this is true! Hope you get to visit there sometime soon. Brigantine is primarily residential and offers many hotel, rental, and timeshare options for vacationers.
